I've noticed (and alot of you have too) that the Tigers just can't seem to score or even get a good shot against the zone (no a 28 foot TQ 3 isn't a good shot). Why is it taking so long for Jones/Mussleman to figure out the problems against zone D.

It seems like every team we play is just going to play zone all game until we figure it out. If we could score reliably we wouldn't have so many bad losses and close games that we should win by 10.

I think intentions are good. It seems to me they want to flash guys to the middle, go inside out, reversal the ball.

But again, like some other things, it gets lost in translation. Execution is sloppy, cuts are not consistently crisp, passes tend to be lazy a bit too often.

Little things like this if we can improve we'll be so much better. Will be interesting to see how much we do going forward.

Geaux Tigers! This one's not a gimmie. Gotta go take it.

we had one REALLY good possession against the zone last game. i believe martin caught it at the FT line and immediately threw a greta bounce pass to mickey cutting to the basket for a dunk.

it looked so crisp. i wish we could look like that every possession.

We also lack good guards who can cut into the zone off the trouble. Gray seems to be one of the few that will do it, but of course you know he's feast or famine

I thought this was going to be about football.

I now have nothing to contribute.

Most college teams struggle some against zone if they aren't shooting the ball well. That's why teams play zone. Zone O is about moving the ball side to side and getting the ball to the zone weak spots (high post or short corner). Playing zone leaves you very vulnerable to the 3 ball so the best answer is to make a few shots and widen that zone out. Then things get a lot easier. You can also have a few quick hitting zone plays but most college teams scout so well they can take that stuff away pretty easy.

Been a problem for the last few seasons. Teams are doing us a favor when they don't play zone. I'm amazed we ever see M2M.
