Someone told me that there were a lot of gun nuts on this board so I thought I would ask a couple of basic 1st grader level gun questions.

I'm guessing it's been about 8-9 years since I've had the guns out of the cabinet so I thought I would pull them out and give them a good cleaning/oiling. First up is my Finnish M39 Mosin Nagant. I shoot corrosive ammo through it and always give it a good thorough cleaning when I'm done. This is the first time I've ever taken it out of it's furniture though. There is a tiny bit of surface rust in a couple of spots under the furniture I need to take care of. Anyone have any favorite ways to remove a little surface rust without rubbing away or screwing up the bluing?

Whatever lube I had on my Nagant seems like it's gotten sticky/gummy over the years. The action isn't as smooth as it used to be and you can feel the stickyness when you run your finger down the bolt. Got any good cleaner/solvent recommendations to remove the sticky oil? I've got some #9 laying around but I'm looking for something I can blast it with out of a can and give it a good hose off. I think oil wise I was using Rem-Oil. Whatever it was I can't find it and need some new (firearm) Lube. What's your favorite?

Next is my old Winchester Model 190 tube fed semi auto 22. The gun was purchased before I was born in the early 70's. It has a Weaver V22-a scope on it that I know little to nothing about. It has a 3-6x magnification adjustment. The optics still seem bright and clear. It is a made in the USA Weaver scope so it can't be that bad right? One thing that bugs me is that the cap that covers one of the adjustment screws is missing and the cross hairs are not straight up and down they are tilted just a bit. Not sure if the tilt can be adjusted out and I haven't been able to find a replacement cap. It is adjusted and while quite accurate (I will often throw a golf ball down the range and would shoot the golf ball all the way to the 110 yard back stop) so I hate to junk it over small cosmetics. The scope is really small by today's standards, looks like a 7/8" tube. I'm thinking about replacing it which would probably mean new rings + scope. Anyone know of a decent small scope for a 22 that won't break the bank? What's a good quality scope for a 22 run these days? I don't really need any more magnification that the 6x and I could even go fixed magnification around 4x if it will get me more scope for the money.

If your scope crosshairs are not straight up and down/flat horizontal then just loosen the top of the rings around the scope, rotate the scope a bit to line up your crosshairs, and tighten in place.

Then the knobs would be all out of square with respect to the rifle body. My inner Monk couldn't deal with that
