Les Miles said they would sign a full class this year. That does not mean we have to stop at 25 commitments. It's all a numbers game. 85 scholarships on campus at one time. If Melvin Jones and/or Rashad Robinson don't return to the team, thats two extra scholarships we wouldn't have had. There is a very good possibility we go over the 25 target number this year. The 4 early enrollees count toward last years numbers so we could definitely sign 27 or 28 this year and have plenty of room for a loaded 2016 class.

Plus it seems as if the stars are aligning as we speak. With Valentine-Okeke committing to us today, get ready for next Wednesday.

The guys we have a true shot at, that we want.
1.Derrick Dillon
2.Prince Tega
3.Arden Key
4.Torrance Gibson
5.Jamal Peters
6.Leo Lewis
7.Foster Moreau
8.Justin Reid
9.Toby Weathersby
10.CeCe Jefferson

If we took all of these guys we'd end up with your 28.

And if we pull off that class, we may as well go recruit Bill Belickik to come work as an intern for us while we're at it.

Let's get to 25 with quality kids before worrying about going over. Not sure the true number but I think the 2 JC kids(Domond/Jeter) took the back counter spots so that would mean 25.

Not all early enrollees count back.

That would be an incredible haul, in fact, getting 8 of the 10 would be incredible...

I think we'll get 5 or 6 of them, but you can't go wrong with any of those guys. I guess the only imperative outcome is that we get at least 1 DE from that group.

It all boils down to how many kids are on campus. LSU doesn't process kids like other schools do so it's simply who's in the program and who's not. Alot depends on M. Jones and R. Robinson. That's two huge scholarships.

Not true.

It is more complicated.

1) There is the 85 limit
2) There can only be 25 "initial signees" in a year.

So, if some players leave (NFL early entrant, transfer, quit, etc) that can leave less than 85. BUT, there has to have been fewer than 25 signed in the previous year for early enrollees to 'count back' to the previous class.

Obviously, there HAS to be attrition for a school to take 25 every year (4 years gets you to 100) and that does not even count the 5th year guys.

But, again...IF the school had 25 Initial LOIs signed...there is no "count the early enrolls to last class" available...no matter WHAT the 85 Limit looks like.

THAT is why walk-ons sometimes get a one year scholarship. The team had less than 85 on scholarship but no ability to sign additional "new" players.

25 is the most any school can enroll in a year. The only way you can count early enrollees back is if you didn't sign the 25 limit the year before. In addition to the 25 per year limit you can't have more than a total of 85 scholarship players enrolled at any time. So, since LSU signed 25 last year we can't count any back to last year no matter who leaves the program and we cannot sign more tha 25 this year.

Good point about Tenessee. Where are the numbers experts? Explain that! Where's the loophole?
