Workout bros - is it bad to target arms & shoulders in back-to-back days?

Trying to figure out a solid schedule here. I like to do heavy weighted dips on arm day (along with weighted chin-ups) which both hit my shoulders pretty hard as well (maybe I'm doing them wrong, especially dips).

Is it a bad idea to do shoulders the very next day?

Yes

I hit back and bis the same day to maximize healing time on biceps.

eta not bad actually. Just not optimal.

Yes. Do dips on chest day with other push workouts.

Back/bis, chest/tris

Yes. This is pretty standard.

I do a 5 day split.
Back,shoulders,legs,chest,arms.
Usually do 12-14 sets for small muscles
15-18 for big muscles
You should be good though. As long as your muscle is a secondary muscle one day in an exercise and a primary muscle another day in your exercise.

However if you feel like its too much you could switch the weighted dips for weighted dips using a bench instead. Due to the placement of your hands it will almost exclusively target your tris.

Answers are all over. I used to workout bis on back day and tris on chest day. I started working them out on different days and both arm muscles grew bigger.

The key is to letting any muscle group healing at least 48 hours. So I workout 4 times a week and chest day is never within > 48 than my triceps day and same with back/biceps.

Yeah, I don't do back/bis or chest/tris on the same day anymore either. Do them separately so that I can hit various muscles twice in a 7 day span rather than only one time.

frick me thought your OP said arms and back in back to back days.

I would give it at least 48 hours between working biceps and working shoulders.

You can work different parts of your shoulders on different days no problem.

I do a 3 on 1 off route with Chest/tris, Back/Bis, Legs/Shoulders, off to give ample rest.

I do:

Mon: Legs
Tue: Chest
Wed: Back
Thur: REST
Fri: Shoulders
Sat: Arms
Sun: REST

I try and get the big body parts out the way first, and hit the more specific ones later in the week. That being said, there is no rest between Shoulder day and Arm day.

I don't know if it's right or wrong, but I haven't hit a problem with it.

I've been doing them back-to-back as well, but I don't think its good long term, especially once I get old.

Overworking my shoulders is what I'm most worried about. But im also hitting tris 2 consecutive days as well. If there were only 8 days in the week this wouldn't be a problem.

Are you actually a body builder? No, then why are you wasting your time on such a small group of muscles?

I can understand major arm work if you are reaching a plateau on a big lift. If that is the case then hit the pull-ups and dips. Other than that you are getting great arm work during big compound exercises.

I agree. Targeting arms is pretty dumb unless you're a body builder. Arms get enough work if you're doing the right lifts.

Eta: pullups and dips aren't "arm work' though.
