I certainly have no argument against the increased parity or the fact that our Tigers don't cruise through the regular season and into Omaha anymore. It's a different league and I think LSU may have been a bit slow to adjust. I can't argue the numbers if we're strictly going to compare post season records over the past 5 years either. I was as frustrated as any other fan at the Stoney Brook and Houston series and feel that LSU certainly could have and arguably should have won both. We were a hit away from closing out each of those series and then maybe this conversation is moot. I don't agree that we are 3rd or 4th best program in the SEC, however. I think that LSU has shown that it can take a series from any of the other schools you mentioned, when we need to. The crux of this discussion rests on how the respective LSU teams played against two out of conference opponents in the post season and in each case, we lost a close game 2 and gave the opponent an enormous amount of confidence and momentum heading into game three. Again, we get a clutch hit in one or both of those games and we're not having this conversation. That, in my opinion, does not get even close to an objective reason for replacing this coach.

Wanted to add that I think this coach just signed the #1 class in the country and iirc, it's the 3rd time doing so in the 7-8 years he's been on board.

So talented last year that we didn't even have a Sunday starter. This is a lazy argument. I'd argue that getting a team with that little pitching depth to be a national seed was pretty damn good coaching.

I won't argue that bad decisions were made late in game 2 against Houston but if you're looking for coaches that push the right button every single time, baseball might not be the game for you

I know. Like when our coach decided our shortstop and our catcher would make errors and cost us the UCLA game. Stupid coaching decisions!
