Another championship LSU coach; another thread about firing championship LSU coach.

I think our talent has carried us and provided great regular seasons the past few years, but when it has been crunch time our coaching staff hasn't stepped up and made great decisions.

If you copy this and paste it in your sig quote, you could basically same the same thing over and over for forever.

I will say this about our coaches right now of the Big 3 sports
Bullet Jones has recruited more than Trent ever did, game day coaching could improve but getting talent to Baton Rouge has been the problem since Dale left with the exception of Temple's AAU team Brady inherited. For the first time in a long time we have reason to be excited about the direction of the program from a talent standpoint and that speaks volumes about how hard Johnny works.
PM - baseball is different now, toning the bats down and scholly reductions have leveled the playing field and makes it that much more difficult to make Omaha much less win it, with that said you have to appreciate the job PM has done in adapting to the new style of ball and continuing to compete in the toughest conference in the country, winning sec games and tourneys is not easy and winning regionals and supers is harder now. The program is in so much better shape than it ever was under Laval. PM will retire here and it shouldn't be any other way and if a coach as respected as Dunn is willing to work with PM that tells you the level of respect he has in coaching circles.
Miles also has the football program in position to win consistently when a down year is 8 wins even with substandard QB play. Miles knows the offense needs to be fixed but they were coming off a year that set records on offense and lost the entire skill set to the NFL. The defense was not up to par under Chavis and some of it is due to schemes. Some people must not have been around for the Hallman and Archer days. As long as Miles is here you can bet those days won't return.
If any of these three would leave how much confidence do you have in Alleva replacing them. He struck out on Trent Johnson. If PM would retire I would immediately promote Dunn if we don't lose him to Bama first. You lose Miles you probably lose Miles staff as well which would not be good from a recruiting standpoint.
With that said, transition is coming in the next five years for both baseball and fball

FWIW, his last 5 years:
bounced in regionals at home by Houston
0-2 in Omaha
bounced in super regional at home by Stony Brook
no tournament
not really what we've come to expect from the LSU baseball program...

I'm so glad we got rid of that coach; 50% championship rate on the Rant is not acceptable.

not at all. But consistent trips to Omaha. Not one in five years. Glad you could participate in a grown up discussion without a little quip though.
eta: hell, we've only gotten to the supers twice in 5 years. Do you think that's good?

I wouldn't say it's "bad", especially when you consider the level of parity in college baseball these days. shite happens.

I definitely agree with the parity compared to even just 7-10 years ago. That said, I guess the frustration from a lot of people is that we had two teams in Houston and Stony Brook on the ropes to move on to the next round and we choked both times.
