HP Desktop black screen after login

Can turn computer on and get to login. Accepts I'd and password but will not continue after login. Just a black screen with a cursor. Did a system restore but still the same problem. Should I just restore to factory settings with back up?

depending on how bad you want the information off of the computer I would back it up by any means necessary and then maybe do a reinstall

System restore in safe mode seems to gave done the trick. Doing a full scan as of now. Thanks
