Exactly, NOLA is no different than any other city when it comes to certain places you avoid if you want to stay out of trouble.
I've never had any issues in NOLA, guess I am just a lucky dude!!!!!
Neck, I've been here my whole life. I grew up on Rocheblave St. in the 60's. About 8 blocks from where this shooting took place. This isn't the 60's anymore.

That's a brave motherfricking Irishman right there.
Didn't work out, though.

I wonder if the article should read Orleans Ave & N. Tonti. That would put him at Willi Maes. Just spit-balling here

Exactly, that's why most people shouldn't even be there....especially at 5:40am. Hell, I had someone try to steal my truck while I was standing 50ft away on Rochenblave once. Just yelled at the dude and told him to GTFO out of my truck, and he did and just walked off like nothing happened. To me, that was my fault because I left the door hanging open. No big deal though
Last year, I had some dude try to steal my blower out of my trailer while I was standing there talking to him on the wank. I just told him, "Dude, don't make me chase you", and he put it down
Albeit those were both broke dick crackheads, but most people would flip their shite about that. My extracurricular activities have landed be in some very bad places at very bad times before, but I came out alright because I can handle myself when it comes to thugs.

Come on fellas. This is the OT. Where are the obvious comments on this? Let me get you started.
He's a Ginger so he was obviously out there trying to steal souls. The NOLA citizen was just defending himself.
He was guarding his Pot of Gold when shot.
Things like that.

Absolutely zero of that was funny....not because of the situation, but because it just wasn't funny

I think the article got it right but maybe he got it wrong. He thought he was going to Willi Maes and ended up heading to New Orleans Ave instead of Orleans Ave. Sounds plausible

at 5am, it makes no sense at all.

gotta love the usual responses from the new orleans people. happens everywhere, he shouldn't have been in that part of town, etc...
I can say it's a damn peculiar area for an Irish tourist to be at 5:40 am without "excusing" the attempted murder.

It would still make more sense. There could be a B&B in MidCity or the Treme and he got lost.
The 7th Ward location literally makes no sense whatsoever, unless he was buying drugs.

Dumb area to be + 5:40 am + refusing an armed robber = drunk
