Got sucked down the Wikipedia rabbit hole earlier and ended up reading about Rinat Dasayev and then the Soviet Union's national team, and it made me wonder.

If the CCCP had won any World Cup titles, would anyone have them now or would they just be lost to history? Would they have been passed to the Russian Federation? I've been thinking about it for a few hours and I've got no idea.

From Wiki, but not cited:

quote:

With the fall of the Soviet Union the modern Russian Football Union was formed (a constituent conference took place on February 8, 1992), inheriting everything from the previous associations such as VRS and Football Federation of USSR and reinstated in FIFA on July 3, 1992

They did win a European Championship

I'm sure that even if they weren't kept in Russia that Putin would have found a way to annex them by now.

I'm finding a way to play this game soon, either finding a used copy or an emulator or something...

Thanks for the flashback

They had some good teams but no one knew anything about the players.

B/c all of them played in the soviet league for the top 3 teams.

If the players got some outside exposure who knows how good the soviet teams could have been.
