Does anyone recommend a person or company to cut and install cultured marble shower surrounds in the BR area? I have the marble, but the company I bought it from is flaky and won't return my calls when I try to set up an installation date. TIA!

You could try Bertionots. I know they cut and install marble. Whomever it is you work with, you'd probably have to bring them your slabs so they can do what they need to it

Not hard plastic at all. Calcium carbonate(powdered natural marble)mixed into a casting resin. I sell a lot of both.

What is it installing on/too?

Cultured marble isn't really hard to install or work with yourself.

@ the responses so far. Thanks! Keep 'em comin

I'm not going to cut them myself because I'm not even that good at rough wood carpentry. I need 2 of the 4 pieces cut in half. Then 2 of those smaller pieces need holes cut out for faucets and the shower head.

The company I bought it from said they would install it over what's there right now: painted drywall (but I really doubt that's the proper way to go) in one bathroom and over the concrete backer board in the other bathroom.

They should grind the back of the marble and prep any surface. It will stick fine if the use a good quality mastic and good quality silicone.

Was it from one of the ones I mentioned? They are all customers of mine.

That's absolutely the correct way to install it. I've done it myself. Let's say you are installing a bathtub surround. If your back panel is 60x60, measure up 59" and draw a level line across the back and then take three measurments from the tub to the line; one on each end and one in the center. After that take the same three measurments from your squarest side and cut your back wall to fit. Hang it with mastic or silicone; either is fine. Repeat for the side panels. It seems daunting but it's really quite simple. Nearly any marble company around you can do this and not screw it up.

A combination of the two is the best way.

Thanks, guys. No, glassman, it wasn't any of those places you mentioned. I actually got it from a company in Slidell. I like the people and their prices there, but trying to coordinate with them has been a hassle. I'm going to call a few places on that list on page one tomorrow and see when they're available and what their prices are. I'm happy to learn that it's pretty foolproof, but I'll still feel better letting a pro do it. Thanks again!

All builders in Baton Rouge use Thibodeaux Marble out of Walker. The rest use Accoustical Specialties on Choctaw. I'm sure you can google the info on those..
