Thinking of getting some, but I fear the jacked up volume may upset my neighbor.

Anyone?

Seriously? You can't hear someone's headphone noise over the ambient noise of the flight. I do tend to feel unloved if the person next to me puts theirs on, though. I'm all like, why can't you just talk to me? Then I drink some white wine and go to sleep.

They really aren't loud enough to bother your neighbors. No problems there, but they don't really block out voices that well.

When accosted by loud neighbors, I would wear some earbuds and put the bose headphones over them. This technique works well.

Wait can people actually hear them on a normal volume(not on a flight)?

I wear mine in the library all the time and I've never heard a complaint but want to make sure I'm not being a douche.

Not to me when I'm flying in one of your type planes. Just booked another one. Love the 200LR!

To the OP, I've had Sony brand and Bose brand and they've both performed pretty close to each other and both are quiet.

Your neighbors won't hear it. The point of the noise cancellation is to reduce the outside ambient noise that gets to your ear. When it's quiet, you don't have to turn the volume up much to hear over anything. Bose have the best noise cancelling, but not the best sound quality depending on what kind of music you listen to. Go to best buy or an audio store and try on all the different types to see what you like best.

How do they feel for long trips? Earbuds tend to irritate me after an hour or so.

Most did me the same way but not these, they are the most comfortable ones I have ever used.

I got some for Christmas and just used them on a flight this past week. They are awesome! Really wish I had gotten some a long time ago. They will probably upset your neighbor even less than regular headphones because you don't have to jack the volume way up to hear them.
