You can't really say this. It's clearly stated in his contract what he is paid to do and that is not limited to "running th football"

I think a lot of us think sports journalism is a joke AND that Lynch is being a little bitch about this. It's not either or. I'm mostly just responding to people celebrating him like he's a civil rights hero.

Yes. I think it is. If no one from either team talked this week, do you think ratings would be down?
It grows the game. It has for years. It is basically free advertisement for a game that is broadcast worldwide so yes it has helped ratings and will continue to help ratings. I know the sports fan in most of us here don't see that but SuperBowl advertisements aren't meant for us, its the rest of the world turning in and the casual fan/nonexistent fan that still watches. The NFL will get people watching from just Marshawn clips being played over and over and over, as well as deflategate, Tom Brady, hoodie, Pete haters, Sherman haters/lovers all of it helps the NFL it creates story lines they love. How much do you think Gatorade paid to have their logo plastered all over the place today?

He is required to "be available." If "be available" is too ambiguous, then the NFL and the NFLPA need to more clearly define the term.
The times when he was not "available" to the media, he received fines. Ever since he has been "available" he has not been fined.
Ergo, he is not in violation of his contract or the CBA.

apparently it is an NFL rule that he speak to the media and, by signing with an NFL team, he must obey the NFL's rules. I'm not sure how you're missing this.

it unnerves me but i totally agree. i can't stand that 'huh huh he's so cool- power to the people' kind of thought process when he's simply just being an idiot. if he was really making a statement about society or something important then it would be different.

I think it's likely that he's not fulfilling the "spirit" of the requirement.
Whether the NFL finds a way to change the requirement and/or punish him for what he is doing is TBD

Did he speak to the media today?

I mean, that's fine. It doesn't make him any less of a douchebag by circumventing the spirit of the rule by saying "I'm thankful". It's becoming more apparent that he doesn't want to talk because he knows something ignorant is going to come out when he opens his mouth.

Pretty sure he spoke with the media today boss.

Forcing a player to talk doesn't grow the game in a positive light IMO. Letting players who enjoying talking and giving the stage to do that helps more.
ETA: I don't agree or disagree with how MS is handling the situation. I just think the NFL has some shite rules.

You're right, but if he was just a dull as hell interview they'd probably largely leave him alone. Instead, he gets upset that people have the audacity to even try, which is a bitch thing to do IMO.
Just go through the motions, you're well compensated to do so.

Watched a person try to pay off a fine with pennies. Saw him get hauled into court and given definitive payment parameters with the force of a court order and specific legal remedies for failing to do so.
Again, this is not hard math. Just do what your contract says and don't be so confrontational about it. This isn't 1984. Or clockwork orange. You aren't fighting for civil rights.
Meet the terms of a contract you signed. Or don't complain when you get called out on it. That's life.

Is this where you switch from "he's violating the agreement" to "yeah whatever he's still a douchebag"?

You think they care if the game is grown in positive light ?!?? It is the $$$$$. And if you don't require media interaction most wouldn't talk, especially after a loss/fumble or whenever something doesn't go their way. It is collectively bargained for a reason.

Sure, fine. but that's not what you said. You said, clearly, that he was in violation of a written agreement.
I don't think not answering questions, or answering them the way he does, makes him a douchebag. I don't give two shits about Marshawn Lynch, his personality, or his character.
What he does doesn't bother me. I wouldn't know he was even doing this shtick if it wasn't for this website.

If that's the conclusion you want to jump to, go right ahead. I don't know what his motivation is. Maybe originally he was uncomfortable with the media, and now he's using it to keep his name in the press. Again, I don't care.

No doubt. But as a fan of the game, i would rather the league be less shitty.
