I'd put him in a pound-you-in0-the-arse prison for the rest of his life. Death penalty? naw. but he shouldn't go to a country club prison either.
frick this guy. No sympathy.

This. And if he does get charged and convicted hell be the first one Obama pardons on his last day in office.

Max penalty for desertion while in a combat zone is death
Why not prosecute Obama too for breaking the law by releasing the 5 Taliban goons to get Bregdahl back? According to a congressional law, Obama needed congressional approval before releasing those 5 terrorists, which he didn't have...

The charge? Yes absolutely. Death penalty? Not sure, would need to see all the facts.
Here is a fact. Other soldiers died attempting to rescue him.

If men were killed looking for him, then he should be executed. It won't happen, but it should.
If Obama pardons him, he will be vilified by the military for a long time.

I was thinking the same exact thing.

When you think about it, being a Taliban hostage/POW was symbolically and practically the most fitting punishment he could have gotten. Shouldn't have made the trade.

The real tragedy is we gave up 5 terrorists from Gitmo for this pussy. What ever happened to not negotiating with terrorists?

We haven't done that in 70 years. Doubt it will ever happen again.

Does anyone know why he decided to go strolling through Afghanistan by himself?
I'm assuming he's not nuts since he is currently working on an active duty post as a clerk.

In case you haven't noticed Barry is the worst negotiator in US history. And it's not even close.

Doing some Google searching, they do look a different. I'd paint them as Alaska bush people or Appalachian-off-the-grid types.
Apparently, he went a long time without speaking to his parents after his release. No idea what's going on between them but seems like he could at least take a phone call since he'd probably still be over there if it weren't for them.

My understanding is his disillusionment with the mission. I'm sure that was the first time a soldier wasn't in complete agreement with what they were doing. We all did our duty regardless. Many people sacrificed and were wounded or killed trying to get him back. That is the major issue that I think could get him a long term prison sentence but not the death penalty.
