South Carolina under Frank Martin are only 2-18 on the road... 1 of those was against LSU two years ago however.

South, how do you say we are the 6th fastest team in the country? How is that quantified?

possessions per game.

quote:

Tempo/Pace - The number of possessions per 40 minutes. Possessions is not an official NCAA statistic, so it must be estimated. The formula I am using is:

Possessions = FGA-OR+TO+.42*FTA (I use .475 for the free throw mulitplier now.)

LSU has the 6th most possessions per 40 minutes at 72.0 per game.

No kidding...

Here's the possessions per 40 in the last 7 years:

15 - 72.0 (6) JJ
14 - 69.9 (32) JJ
13 - 68.6 (57) JJ

12 - 66.1 (168) TJ
11 - 66.3 (187) TJ
10 - 62.9 (318) TJ
09 - 66.8 (152) TJ

While there is no "right" way to play, the faster pace is much more fun to watch.

When JJ got here he said at his introductory press conference that he was going to turn LSU into a high flying team that was fun to watch. LSU didn't do too much of that in his first two seasons and people were wondering where the fast pace was. Well he's really kicked it into gear this season. Jones just needed a couple of years to get some of his guys here. I expect to see even more next season. It should be a gay ol time.

And also not having JOB.. Even as great as he was.. opens up the offense a ton.

Ah. Makes sense. Thanks.

And it's definitely more fun to watch. That said, wish we could cut down on the TOs on those breaks, finish up cleaner.

Absolutely. If we have our players come back next year, I could see it cleaning up some more. It takes time and I do think it prepares them for the NBA where a faster pace is used due to the quick shot clocks.

It's hard when playing long minutes, getting tired, and playing fast to not make mental mistakes. As LSU continues to play like this, players will improve (hopefully) in the mental aspects of the game. It is tough, but as we practice it, other teams won't and LSU will be better for it as the season goes on.

. Just watch this man (USC headcoach) on the bench. He is the angriest man I've ever watched coach. He yells at his players like it's all he can do.

THE RUN HAS BEGUN

We’re gonna take a six-game streak into the Kentucky game, and we’re going to knock them the F off and become a national media darling and shoe-in for the Dance, goddamnit!

Vandy's coach was doing his best Muschamp, can't wait to see if Martin can out-do him

For those like myself who don't get the SEC Network, you can watch the game here. You're welcome.

What happened to the kid from Parkview that signed with them?

and also, Reggie Theus' son plays for them, so I'll be very disappointed in the crowd they don't sing the Hang Time theme song.

That sucks. But if Gray steps up we'll be fine. There won't be much rest for the starters tonight. Gotta stay out of foul trouble.

Not like he was going to.

SC is not the greatest but they're 10 deep, and they know how to get guys like M&M in foul trouble.
