An athletic testing lab in Pittsburgh, HeadSmart Labs, did just that. HeadSmart’s researchers inflated footballs to 12.5 PSI in a 75° F setting, and then to simulate the conditions at the cool, rainy AFC Championship Game, they brought the balls to a 50° F setting and got them wet. HeadSmart found that the pressure in the balls declined an average of 1.8 PSI, which is remarkably close to the numbers bandied about in media reports of the Patriots’ footballs (which, to be clear, doesn’t necessarily exonerate New England).
That's from the link a few posts above.
I'm coming to realize how many "sports" people have never played sports. I mean hell any eight year old that's left a basketball outside in the cold knows for a fact it's not gonna bounce normal.
And every Pats hater out there conveniently forgets we have no way of knowing the starting pressure of the Colts footballs. We don't know if they stayed the same. We just know they started and ended within the okayed range.
But don't let clear thinking get in your way. By all means let's toss the Pats under the bus.
Retards unite

This could all be solved by allowing the NFL to provide all the footballs and not allow team personnel in any capacity to handle the balls before the game or at halftime. However this is the United States, so such a simple solution will probably never happen.

They did this to give autonomy to the teams to help their quarterbacks the leighway to have optimal equipment for their liking.
If this was really an issue, they never would have changed the rules.

So has the league apologized to the pats yet for all of this nonsense?
