Obviously, you lose out on nutrients if you juice or milk them. Especially the fiber from the hard cell walls where the dietary fiber is contained in things like nuts and vegetables.

You can't judge the nutritional value on a food source by one factor which is what you're doing with fiber and almond milk.

quote:

The health benefits of almonds primarily comes from its monounsaturated fats, which provide the cardiovascular benefits and LDL lowering properties. Fats are intrinsically high in calories, and almond milk isn't.

This is certainly a factor and almond milk contains about 2 grams of healthy fats in addition to other nutrients and vitamins.

It's not a cure-all liquid and should never be billed as such. It's a solid replacement for milk if you're watching calories and want to supplement it with something aside from water which doesn't have a good taste in things like protein shakes.

It's low in calories, has decent nutrients, and tastes really good (to some people). Those are all wins IMO.

The remnant from the almonds after milking is turned into meal and used in a different, it doesn't just go to waste.

i save my fat calories for food that i prefer to the taste-difference in milk, like meat (or a little cheese....or spread), because i'm trying to cut calories to lose weight and i'm not really working out right now

if i were working out more and trying to build, my diet wouldn't be as calorie-deficient and whole dairy milk is a great thing for that exact purpose

My dietitian told me if I was going to drink regular milk I had to go to a local dairy farm and get unpasteurized milk

I told her milk was not that important to me. I don't even put it in my coffee. I use the almond milk to thin my smoothies

The fact that people pay money to get advice like this makes me not want to live on this planet anymore.

I cut my dairy down to see if it helps my cholesterol. I'm 31, extremely fit, but got the bad news of high cholesterol, doc thinks it may be genetic or im hyper sensitive to foods high in cholesterol. So I buy half gallon of milk and half gallon of almond milk. I can't drink the regular shite, its too watery. I've found Blue Mountain reduced sugar vanilla to be the best compromise.

Did I use the wrong word or do you just not know her reasoning?

She's told me so much I get it mixed up. And my internist recommended her

I know they have nuts out there. Pasteurizing milk is harmless, the FDA agrees.
