I love that about snow. It slows life to the pace it was meant to be. I wish we would get a good snow, just like 4-6 inches would be great

i must admit, hurricanes, strong rains and thunderstorms do the same. It's nice to slow things down every now and then other than holidays.

Hey I'm sure you love it, I mean...most men in the South do. I'm sure my husband would love to fish if offered to go as well(I know he wanted to do some deep sea fishing when we were in Destin but didn't have time to). I just REALLY don't like fishing.

I wasn't talking about Yankees really. Just what I've encountered out here when people got really honest with me about their thoughts on the South.

I once worked at a company based out of southern Ohio....my colleagues from the area had no problems sharing unsolicited thoughts on those of us from the Houston office (which represents the bulk of the company's revenue despite not being HQ).

I found it ironic, as southern Ohio was more backwards and more racist than anything I've ever seen in south Louisiana. It was a lot like northern or central Alabama in that respect.

Even more strange.....the people that I've encountered from the Dayton and Cincy area since then are actually reasonably friendly.

I'd put Midwestern hospitality right up there with southerners. Those folks are so nice it's painful sometimes.
Midwesterners are way more friendly than Southerners. It's not even close.

I've found westerners, minus the extreme left wingers, to be very friendly as well

I'm moving to either Pittsburgh or Portland this spring or summer.

I'll tell you what living in the north (or west) is like relative to the living in the south a year from now. The winters in PA are really making me a little worried. I hate hot weather, but bitterly cold weather bothers me as well. I think the mild, rainy winters in the PacNW are more my speed.

I love it when thin skin, limp wrists sissy girl's complain about the cold. Florida, really? You're not even in the south, your Cuba North, Your the California of the South. Everyone hopes you break off soon.

It's all personal preference.

I live in Chicago, lived in Baton Rouge for 5 years. Houston for 14. Would never move back. Maybe to Houston (where I'm from), but not deep southern climate other than that

Believe it or not there is also good looking women, football, and fishing in other places than just where you live UF........1950

Pittsburgh can be cold. But it's not that bad. Problem I have with up here is the bars crank the heat up to 100 deg. I just brave the walk without a heavy coat. Gets annoying having to hang up my coat if I'm bar hopping

I couldn't see myself living away from the east coast from Georgia to New York, and Tennessee and maybe Kentucky/WV and excluding the entire state of Maryland.

I grew up in Jersey and lived in Nebraska, Tennessee, Hawaii, Washington, Virgina, and Georgia. Off all the places I lived, Virginia was by far my favorite. The winters are mild and the fall and spring is absolutely amazing. Never gets too hot or too cold.

Jersey was my second favorite. Same thing about fall and spring. The worst part about the north isn't the cold or the snow, it is the people. They are for the most part just giant assholes. However, never had better Italian food and pizza. I miss that stuff like you wouldn't believe.
