and let me be clear. i'm not being an elitist here. they are hurt, too. they have to invest personal resources in the endeavor while avoiding economic progress during the time spent in school. oh yeah, and they have to pay for it, so they lose a lot of financial resources.

always remember the UPS driver v. Dr. chart

that's a fricking doctor

no she was asking if me she should go to loyola for law. she had a BA from UF (which, let us remember, is a vastly superior school to LSU)

no...

Having been on this board for a number of years, you being a lawyer is a known fact, and I thought it was also that the market is flooded with many JDs, thus you should know a bit about devalued degrees.

ETA: Nice graph. Fascinating.

yeah that's why i moved back home in 2008 right after finals, b/c (thanks to this board) i knew the market was about to crash

that was the gist of my convo with her. she has no real intention to stay in nola (moved there for a guy and ended up stripping, so it wasn't exactly a great place in her eyes), so loyola is quite possibly the most retarded decision she could make

Bobby J - easily the worst Gov. In the history of the state. He has one major agenda - promoting himself.

I'm not happy LSU isn't getting the sufficient funds your typical flagship university receives from the state, but come on now

Hey dildos, before you go off blaming Jindal for the budget cuts - remember that the dumbass voters in this state have protected all accounts in the budget aside from some healthcare and higher education so they get to feel the brunt of it all. Only options are to raise taxes, which he's not going to do, or cut where he can.

Point the fingers at the people who

protected the accounts.

Really funny to hear all these college students bitching about higher ed cuts yet they fail to understand the basic principals of our constitution. If thats the best they can do at the collegiate level, cut away. They all need to be in trade school.

You're connected with oil and gas so I'm guessing you've seen the inside of refinery before. I've never seen so much wasted time and money in my life. With that said, I don't disagree with your point, but waste is not exclusive to universities and state jobs.

I've worked for the state and in private industry. The private industry folks love to put down state workers but I saw far more wasteful practices in private industry. People need to get over themselves.

here is a novel solution...

how about we get a new constitution?

The one that says we don't only need to cut from higher education and health care.

Haven't seen a politician mention this

lowering standards to ensure these kids can get in school and then using grade inflation and easy grading to keep them eligible...is terrible

Well, part of the problem is that isn't confined to only Louisiana. Other universities in the county are doing the same thing. So you're doing a disservice to Louisiana kids who are 'undereducated' if they don't have those diluted degrees. It will keep going on until a school has to close due to financial constraints.

It won't end until someone important realizes that equality is the greatest injustice of all. I don't see that ever happening in this country. It will only get worse.

Excellent idea. But in order for that to happen you'll need to get the often-forgotten, never mentioned LEGISLATURE involved. Many people seen to think this is all the Guvs fault. Where are your legislators? They need to take responsibility too!
