I've been trying to do it on Google Maps and having issues. It's frustrating because it's the end of a multiple location geocache.

Is it just lat/long coordinates like 30.412005, -91.183991?

N 30° 24.376 W 091° 09.928

I tried putting it into Google Maps, but it keeps giving me a "similar location" which seems to be off.

Thanks for any help that I get on this, I'm just trying to learn so I can find it and for any future use!

I just dropped those coordinates just like you have them typed into google maps and it pulled up some place off of Stanford Ave.

Just divide the minute by 60 to get decimal degrees.

N 30.406267
W 91.165467

You can put these in Google Earth. Make sure you put in the west coordinate as a negative. Appears to be in a landscape island on Stanford/LSU Avenue?

Don't worry about searching. I just went there and found the prize.

I just started this as a hobby a couple of weeks ago, and I gotta say it's fun as hell. I've found 11 geocatches so far, and I purchased some materials to make a couple of my own.

I need to get into that again. That was really fun when I did it. It helps you find places that you didn't know existed. I found one in a graveyard that I didn't even know existed in a small town of 10,000 people that I lived in my whole life

Coolest one I found was in a pill capsule tucked up in a crack inside of a mining cave that we had to bushwack up a creek for an hour for. Never would have known that mining cave existed either.

I'm excited to really get into it. Currently, I do a lot of traveling for work, so it'll be a great way to see some new things.

I've been wanting to get into hiking and stuff again, so that should help too.

Where did you even start with this? I've heard of this before but never participated. I also travel a lot for work and get bored sitting in hotel room or bar.

Honestly, I downloaded the app and started looking. I don't know if you're in Baton Rouge, but LSU has a lot of nice easy caches for beginners like me.

Did this with the kids for a year or so. It's really fun. Did the geochache app from the link the guy above had.
