MacBook help opening Word doc

I have a MacBook Pro with everything up to date as well Microsoft word. My prof has word documents posted on moodle but when I go to click on them, it pops up a new window titled "untitled" and it won't load any of the document. Any help? Just dropped over grand on this and it's very frustrating

Save to desktop first and then try to open.

Just a guess, but maybe try dragging it to your desktop instead of secondary clicking and saving?

I remember a similar issue (the blank untitled box), and I got it to work using a different browser. I know that doesn't get to the root of the problem, but see if that changes anything.
