My maw maw still hanging in there. I felt bad that we made the decision on a catheter. My mom didn't like it when she got sick. If she is uncomfortable with it they will take it out. My family has been over to help and telling some old stories when I was a kid. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Her name is Joyce L. Reuther.

Well my maw maw had a rough night. In the times I was awake, she couldn't stay still for more than 10 to 15 minutes. I decided to go sleep in the room with her and that was a bad idea as I didn't get much sleep. Gonna see if the oxygen will help her relax and if not gonna call the hospice nurse for ideas. She is wearing herself out and me. Closest thing I can compare it to is a newborn baby constantly crying and u can't make it stop. I don't have kids but going by what people have told me.

The mark of a real man. Thanks for doing what has to be done.

I wish I had one more day with one of my parents or grandparents.

My maw maw is still struggling. At this point I am all out of answers. I have talked to the hospice nurse and we got her on a medicine routine but it doesn't appear to be working. She just can't seem to be calm. my guess it is the kidney disease, meds and just her stubbornness of not wanting to go. It breaks my heart to see her like this but I can't waive a magic wand. The nurse will be back tomorrow and we will have to come up with another plan. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. I just hope she will just tire herself out so she can get some rest.

She is still hanging in there. Since Wednesday night things have not been well. Put on some 40's music on pandora for her, since I don't sit in her bedroom with her. That way she doesn't feel alone. All I would be doing is staring at her and I did that with my mom and it wasn't good for either of us. I go check on her if I don't hear her moving around every 30 minutes. I have come to accept she will not get out of the bed and just hope she goes peacefully. I will shed a lot of tears but I can't control life and death so I have to think of all the great memories like I am doing since my mom passed away. All of those images the last few days of her life faded away in time and I hope the same happens here. Please continue to pray for her.

I'm very sorry for what you and your family are going thru.
I friend of mine was in your situation, and she finally talked to her mawmaw and just told her gently is was okay to go if she wanted to.
She did.
Prayers for you.

Like the social worker said this is opening a lot of old wounds with my mom who died in 08. I never got over that nor ever will. I don't believe things happen for a reason when it comes to death.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. You are a great person for being there with her. It will also benefit you greatly after she passes. I would have loved to have spent time with my grandmaw right before she passed away, even though other family told me she was like a totally different person due to the alzheimer's. I had made travel plans to fly in to visit her...she passed away 3 weeks before my trip.

My prayers are with you and your grandmaw, she's very lucky to have such a loving grandson in her life
