The couple I know from LSU (small sample size) actually hate the football team because they feel like it takes away from LSU's academics.

Wow, are they really that ignorant? Athletic department profits go back into the academic side of the university.

Egotistical nerds get offended at the attention and praise that athletes get for being good at sports. They think there should be crowds of people celebrating their research projects

Weak sauce argument. The NFL validated the balls and the Colts balls were compliant, not overinflated.

Overinflated could also mean inflated to the upper end of the spectrum. Thus the Colts remained in standards while the Patriots dropped out due to Brady liking his balls so low on the spectrum.

Its being talked about on CNN and Fox News by people who haven't watched a down of football. The whole story is dumb. All this over some under inflated balls in a game that was a rout.

And Mark Brunell cried after Brady's press conference.

Then they should do something really awesome. Like finding a cure for cancer or a cheap and easy way to boost your fuel efficiency to 200 mpg. Or even something less important in the greater scheme of things like some type of electronic gadget.

Their argument is colleges are places of higher learning and should be celebrated as such. I don't necessarily agree with them, but they are involved in a much different world than I am also. As with everything, it's what they understand relative to them.

So here is a question, why would the Patriots keep there rooms at 80f instead of 68 like the rest of the sports teams in the world?

That is why teams have ball boys to check the psi and reinflate the balls. You act like the NFL hasn't ever played in cold cities before. Like Goodell said "Ignorance is no excuse."

You guys are totes prec. You are comparing Goodell's statement on Bountygate to this? One scandal involved a defensive coordinator, the right hand man of the head coach himself, while the other involved a ball boy who the head coach probably didn't even know existed until this week.

Here is why nothing is going to happen. Reasonable doubt has already been established. Both by scientists and by Bill Belichick who gave a similar explanation today at his press conference. A ball boy is not going to check the PSI of a freaking ball during the game because the balls have already been inspected by the NFL. His job is to keep the balls clean and dry.

I'm sorry you sore loses lost out on this one.

Boston College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Neutral parties.

I'll be impressed when this is backed up by the University of Indiana.

New England is the team under scrutiny. If the INDY Colts were under scrutiny Butler profs would be defending them.
There is no motivation for Indy to BACK this explanation. its better for the Colts if the Butler profs do not admit the assertions about temp and pressure.

PS. MIT did not defend NE. Some MIT professor explained the science.

Didn't read because I saw it was an excuse based on the weather. Colts balls were properly inflated in the same weather. I guess the weather only affected the Patriots' footballs.

ETA: Just read it. Now they're accusing the Colts of cheating?

lololololol

This should be an automated response from the site whenever this topic comes up.

Also, why have there been zero other complaints from any other teams that played a ton of games in the cold?

It's not a coincidence. The Pats did this to gain a competitive advantage. They broke the rules...again. And they will continue to do so until they are punished for it.

If and when the NFL lets this blow over with no punishment, we will hear about another "scandal" involving this team sooner rather than later. It's their culture, and the NFL's lack of action is blatantly telling them it's okay.

Every team does things to gain a competitive advantage, old sport. Including yours. Hate to break it to you.
