It's the attempted cheating in the 2nd/3rd biggest game of an NFL season

Not this again - already been dispelled:

""John Harbaugh: Ravens 'didn't notice anything' with Patriots' footballs"

"We did not notice anything," Harbaugh said Wednesday. "We never had a ball that they used or anything like that on offense, so we don’t know anything about that in our game. We didn’t have a chance to handle any of their offensive footballs."

"On Tuesday night, CBS Sports reported that some Ravens believed kicking balls used in New England were slightly under-inflated. Harbaugh said there was a reasonable explanation for it."

So you know for a fact that the team, that has a history of cheating and getting slapped on the wrist, DIDN'T at any time through the course of the year cheat that led to:

1) getting into the playoffs
2) securing home field advantage

Did the Pats win ANY close games that led to the best record on the AFC?

Is this same cheating acceptable in the regular season?

It isn't a big deal by itself. It had zero effect on the outcome and appears to have actually been a disadvantage compared to the the 2nd half when the balls were fully inflated. There should be a fine involved and that should be the end of it. The NFL should be more involved in monitoring the ball inflation through the course of the games in the future.

What made it a big deal was who did it.

Nobody really thinks the Pats are the only ones who do this are they?

Me getting a DUI or spending a night in jail for a minor offense isn't as big of a deal as the guy who was on parole that gets busted for the same things.

The Pats are harboring a culture of being above the rules and have been caught cheating a few times before this. Apparently they don't get it, and fining them a measly million dollars as an organization does nothing to deter them from maintaining that culture.

Belichick needs to be suspended and draft picks need to be taken away.

A bunch of butthurt Saints fans and Patriot haters are the only ones who care. Well also former NFL players who never got into a Superbowl are jealous and hate Brady for this, like it really mattered.

Couldn't be more incorrect.

If you don't see why this is a big deal, then you need to stay off the MSB. Don't be ignorant.

He's spot on actually. The Pats never wanted to cripple the opponent.

So a team busted for cheating on multiple occasions previously should just be let off the hook for yet another offense?

I just don't understand why everyone is ok with them cheating, cheating often, and not having the NFL do zilch about it.

ETA: The only relevance bountygate has with this is that it set a precedent for "coaches not knowing" what was going on. Clearly Goodell doesn't care if a coach knows or not, but that it's their job to know.

I do think they should take their first pick in the draft because of prior events but the outrage over this and how the media has run with it is unintentionally hilarious.

The NFL should increase the fines for tampering with the game balls, then. Why not make every broken rule punishable by fire squad?

Or, check this out, NFL teams shouldn't deflate the balls once they've been inspected by the officials. I know it's borderline absurd to expect NFL teams not to cheat but I believe we can get there with the right incentive.

Wait, you're saying the Patriots should forfeit their first pick in the draft but are complaining about outrage?

I think this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. The media should move on and actually start talking about the Super Bowl.

Yes. But what if they suspend Brady for the first half?
