but didn't he have a literal closet full of broken rulers that no one could enter?
I made it into his closet once after graduation. Basically anything you could imagine was in there. Anytime someone would ask a random hypothetical he'd go in his closet and find something to demonstrate it

I made it in once and we sent him a picture of it

In any other school he'd be fired for that shite
Anytime people would complain about that stuff he'd just say "Go talk to Brother Barry. It's not in my contract"

Damn, that's sad to hear. He was my favorite teacher. One of the few that actually gave a shite about the subject enough to make it interesting.

Wow! I didn't have Mr. Sollie but I had Mr. Nola and Mrs. McCarron. That's three teachers from Catholic in just the last five years or so. So sad. Life is fragile.

CHS has lost students in back-to-back graduating classes, as well. One in the 2013 class was lost to a car wreck during his senior year. The other died of cancer earlier this year. He graduated in 2014.

I had heard about Mrs. McCarron a few years back- she was one of my favorite teachers back in the day.
Sad to hear about Sollie tonight... had him for Physics (I think? May have been another science) the first year he taught. Great guy- made learning the material fun. Dude was crazy...
Didn't hear about Nola- what happened to him?

I recognize him as an official.
Sad stuff.
Sad stuff.

Nola died a few years ago of cancer, I believe.

Nola had been battling cancer for a while. Found out he died on the last day of my senior trip (2011). Never had him as a teacher but that was tough too. He was a great guy. Had just gotten married too.

Cancer if I remember right. That was awful too.

Greg Sollie Passed Away Tonight
I'm at a loss for words. This is just unfair.

Yep. Was shocked when my friend told me tonight. Just destroyed me. I feel so bad as a former student. Can't imagine what his current students are going through

Saw this on Facebook earlier. Terrible news.
I never had him as a teacher, but apparently him and Mr. Caffarel would go back and forth all the time fricking with each other. I had a knack for getting on Caffarel's bad side, so I got to know Mr. Sollie real well...
The rest, they say, is history.

Definitely
We always arrived at school about the same time. One time, senior year, we were both running late. I came up to that light where you take a left off of Acadian and noticed he was behind me, so I slowed down to an obnoxious pace. I waited till the light was about to turn red, then hurried up and made the turn. He got caught at the light.
He waited through the entire first period before stopping mid-sentence and saying "Oh, and I need you to go to the principal." Funny shite man
