Why isn't anyone talking about Kyle Bouman? He was a pretty decent Sunday starter for us last year, right?

For the first weekend, yes. He's the closest to a guarantee. It's not a knock on Bouman as much as it is a praise on the freshmen

from what manierri has been saying, poche may not even be a lock for weekends if those freshmen turn out to be good/they cant find a reliable closer.

I heard Theriot on Moscona two fridays ago say that Poche may be moving to the bullpen.

Sounded odd but who knows.. Theriot may be very out of the loop

If the freshmen are as good as advertised, Poche would be great out of the bullpen. Another solid lefty never hurts.

It's hard to believe he doesn't start the season as a weekend starter.

Player. Era. W/L IP H R ER SO B/Avg
Austin Nola 1.47 11-1 116.1 69 19 19 134 .172
Kyle Bouman 2.12 5-2 63.2 49 15 15 32 .215
Jared Poche 2.45 9-3 91.2 72 30 25 52 .222

So Bouman had a better ERA than Poche last year but 28 less innings pitched.

And a few of bouman's starts weren't on the weekends so he was facing easier opponents.

Bouman was pulled after 6 innings against UH so he would be fresh for this year.

Like red said, he may get a shot at closer. Definitely a key to the bullpen regardless.

Good call.

I hope these Jordan kids from here in Lake Charles are as good as advertised.

Beau looked really good in the OF this fall. Made some good plays. And Bryce looked alright at first too. Both are deceptively fast and athletic.
