I sure as heck ain't mounting an 8 either. I would take a few pics with it than let it go. That's me. But hey, it's your fish. You can do what you want with it. I don't have to think too highly of your decision though.

I agree. A dead fish on a wall isn't very becoming and an old nasty bass isn't going to make it's way into to my kitchen. But, they have a right and I respect that.

What does this even mean?

It means a fish mount is trashy. Especially a bass.

I disagree.

And the bass was stupid for him to mention in his initial statement anyway. Especially if you take out man-made reservoirs, LA has some of the best bass fishing in the country. Just look at numbers from the bassmaster classics.

I guess replicas are trashy too. I'll be sure to trash up my home with all the trashy mounts of every trashy creature I catch/kill, just so all my guests know what a dumb piece of trash I am.

It was meant more as a joke. I don't care what people put on their wall. If it makes them happy...

They can't shoot ducks in motion, so to feel like they have balls, let's kill a crane.

I only meant that I thought it was stupid to eat an 8 lb bass. Once they get over 5 they don't taste that good to me. My brother and I were fishing in Des Allemands several years ago. We were in the back of dead end canal when my brother landed an 8 lber. Two doofuses in a boat not far from us noticed his fish and trolled on over to check out the situation. They asked my brother in the most coonass accent "whatcha gonna wit dat fish? You gonna eat it?" To which he said "No, I'm going to let it go." They asked if they could have it since he was just going to let it go. He said no. They proceeded to curse us and call us dumbasses for letting the fish go. We tried our best to just ignore them but my brother finally got pissed off and told them "You want the damn fish? Then go catch it yourself!" Then he tossed it back in the water. That was a fun day

ETA: And I personally wouldn't mount anything under 10. I would probably make an exception for a 9 if it was a particularly beautiful fish.

fricking ridiculous, I will never be able to understand shite like this. would be awesome to be able to restore a species, but with the intelligence level of the average person out there i'm not sure it will happen.

Put some incredibly high fine on the shooter- or his parents if he's a juvenile. Hitting them in the wallet is the only way to break the cycle of ignorance.

Not sure which is more heartbreaking. Losing another one to this kind of slackjawed ignorance, or the fact that we've apparently got so damn many stupid pieces of shite down there who are willing to do this.
