The department received a necropsy report Jan. 8 confirming that the crane had been shot. Whooping cranes are among the world’s most endangered birds. Louisiana is trying to build a flock in southwest Louisiana. This is the sixth to be shot.

fricking ridiculous, I will never be able to understand shite like this. would be awesome to be able to restore a species, but with the intelligence level of the average person out there i'm not sure it will happen.

You would think they would have billboards and signs all around the area where they stay informing the public of their presence. Is this not the case?

This is why Louisiana doesn't have the game/hunting that Mississippi and Texas enjoy. We should be the shite but have way too many sorry mf'ers that are dumb as frick.

I believe they do, I also have heard multiple radio announcements.

this is true. its kind of up to us to stop laughing at the stupid stories when people tell us though. how many times do you hear shitty stories around the camp fire like this and everyone just laughs?

What's even more disturbing to me is if they are shooting the cranes what the hell else are they shooting that they shouldn't be shooting ? I hope they are caught and their faces plastered on bill boards.

Yeah I've met quite a few of these idiots myself. Like the jackasses that'll catch an 8lb bass and clean it to eat. Catch/shoot more than their limit. Dump hazardous material into waterways. Etc etc... These people boil my blood.

You do understand that those things you listed are not all the same. It is not illegal to eat an 8 lb bass. Not saying that it is necessarily the best use of that animal, just pointing out that it is completely legal.
