What is the best walking/hiking boot?

IDK the best but I would recommend that whatever you get has Vibram soles. I have Vasques. They are really comfortable.

I've had the same pair of Keen's for 4 years. I wear them almost daily, and can not wear them out. Very comfy with a little extra room to wiggle toes.

this may sound really dumb but i have used lacrosse grange rubber boots for about 15 years and though they aren't worth a shite for keeping your feet warm, i'll be damned if they aren't comfortable as hell for making multiple 6-8 mile hikes in the swamp.

Do not skimp when it comes to your feet and hiking. I'm not saying go out and buy the most expensive boots, but if you have to spend a few extra bucks than you planned on, it will be worth the comfort. It's the absolute worst being out on the trail with bad boots, especially if your out backpacking for a couple of days. (speaking from experience)

Look for a boot with Gor tex technology in them, completely waterproof. Salomon is another good brand to look at.

All depends on your foot.

I wear Lowas, the renegade to be precise.

I also recently bought Keen steel toed boots for work and I love how they feel. Had never worn keens before but they fit my foot well. Can see myself buying keen hikers because they're cheaper than Lowas.

I know they make mountaineering boots, so they might.

I've been through many brands. My recommendation would be go to New Balance pick a style get a custom inner sole and don't look back.
