Our two league losses are against the two worst teams we've played.

I'm very happy with the win but it's frustrating knowing we should be undefeated in league play.

Ummm...have you watched the games? We could very easily be 1-4 in league play too. You are what you are.

Meh. I'll give you UGA for A&M but we had no business losing to Mizzou.

I think Johnny Jones is still trying figure how get the most out of this team. He's still not settled on a 5th starter yet, Malone is the latest. This team needs to learn how to finish games, especially at home.

It's a fine line. LSU had UGA beat in regulation and couldn't make the FTs to put them away. On the flip side, Mizzou had LSU beat in regulation. Hornsby just made a tough 3 to get the game to OT.

It seems like the team and coaching staff shows up a lot more focused for the "better" teams. Notice that even Jones coached with a bit more emotion against UGA, OM and UF. Hopefully A&M was a turning point for all involved to learn that this team is not good enough to win an SEC game by just "showing up." Though it may not be his style, Jones has to have a bit more energy on the bench. His team feeds off of that. Likewise, there cannot be a lapse of focus for LSU in any game. They're too undisciplined at times to add unforced errors due to lack of energy to the mix.

Find a way to get to 11/12 sec wins and that should be enough
Good thing is this team is winning road games which always helps with the committee as well

I agree, but we control our own destiny. Just win baby.

The only game that was not close was last night. A&M loss really blows though; basically like the Packers the next day and totally improbable.

As another poster said, Mizzou "should" have won in regulation. We are clearly a better team though.

This next game will be telling. Vandy is decent with a couple of good 3 pt shooters. If LSU plays well they should win another road game, if not the trend continues.

I agree. Huge game. The all are I suppose, but wins @WVU, Ole Miss, UF, and Vandy would be pretty damn solid at this point in the season.

The rhetorical down side of last night is that now you have a benchmark--this team is capable of winning by 18 at a decent Florida team. Expectations should stay high and laying eggs won't cut it anymore.

Could say the same thing about the 2007 football team, and that worked out ok.

We are slightly above average, and will continue to trend that way. Coaching makes a big difference in college ball and we don't have it

Keep in mind the lack of depth is causing tired players down the stretch. Fatigue and good basketball dont go well together

Vandy is probably a better team than their 1-4 indicates. In those 5 games their only real "bad" loss is by 3 @ MSU. They battled two of the better teams in the SEC (UGA and @UK) in tough losses and lost another one @ Ark which is always a tough place to play. Plus their funky gym can give road teams fits. That said, LSU is still the better team on paper.

Road wins, especially in conf., are always huge come selection time. If LSU can win at Vandy then the schedule sets up for potentially a nice run. After Vandy, LSU only has 1 road game in the next 5, at cellar-dwellar MSU. Although there are no certainties with this team, 3 of the four home games in that stretch aren't "daunting" on paper: USC, AU and Bama before UK rolls in.

Last night was LSU's best game of the season. I don't expect them to play THAT well again in the next 5. However, if they bring that same energy and focus again there's no reason to think they won't be in every game.

The down side is that LSU lost tight games to A&M and Mizzou because they continued to shoot themselves in the foot. The upside is that LSU lost tight games to A&M and Mizzou even though they continued to shoot themselves in the foot

We've seen this before from Jones' teams, maddening inconsistency. Good wins followed up by terrible losses. Hopefully that trend starts to end.

What make Texas A&M such a bad team to everyone? They're 2-2 in conference play and one of their losses was to Kentucky in double OT.
