Why draft one when you won't commit to use him? It's a waste of a pick.

TJ Yeldon is an interesting back and would fit in our offense. But I don't think we go RB with the first 4 picks and he will be likely gone by the middle 3rd

You can't pay Ingram. You get a running back real late or UDFA. We still have Pierre and Khiry. We HAVE to get a new C along with both guards. You go get a free agent for our number 2 corner since we can't pick one for shite in the draft.

How much is Ingram going to cost us?
Why draft a RB at all with all the other pressing needs we have?
Why do we need another RB?

Honest questions guys. Not trying to be a smartass or anything. Just trying to get some context.

Like most I think if any are taken it will be late 5-7.
I think they will look for the bell cow in FA and someone with speed/explosive in the late rounds or udfa.
I find little chance MI comes back.

I agree with all of this, but I really like Abdullah's game/style. I think he fits perfect on this team. It's shame we have so many holes on this roster, using a 2nd round pick on him is probably ill advised.

Don't know how much or if he even wants to stay here. The FA RB market prices will be set early by the 1st few signed and fall into place after that.

If MI leaves we will have Khiry (who lost out in snaps to MI)

Cadet who does what well I have no idea.

And PT who's going into 9th year?

Thats about it.

Very thin in the RB corp. As about a sh!tty group as there is in the NFL

Pretty sure cadet is a free agent as well. I don't see the need to resign him he seems very replaceable

No draft picks will be spent on a RB.

Khiry and PT haven't proven they can stay healthy. We could get burned if Ingram walks and we decide to hitch onto the two we already have. And assuming we can just keep finding hidden gems in UDFA is another way to get burned.

In fact, we could very well trade back into the 1st round and take Melvin Gordon.

I'm sorry, I like Abdullah as well but he is not a #1 back. He's entirely too small to carry that type of work load on the pro level. He's only 5'8 198lbs. Because of his size, he struggles with pass protection. Anybody who watched Nebraska's bowl game saw this first hand.

quote:

Nebraska senior RB Ameer Abdullah's "will be in the top-75 mix and possibly the top senior running back drafted due to his natural burst, balance and playmaking skills," wrote CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.
"However, his deficiencies in pass protection stand out on tape and were exposed again during Tuesday's practice," Brugler wrote. "He is willing and tough, but his 198-pound frame simply lacks the base strength or upper body power to control or stop rushers in their tracks. Abdullah is a versatile talent who is fun to watch run the rock, but it's clear his best role in the NFL is probably as a change of pace option where he won't be tasked with protecting the pocket." Brugler's colleague Rob Rang wrote Thursday that Abdullah "is the most exciting runner participating in the Senior Bowl." The 5-foot-8, 198-pound Abdullah has worked his way through a muddled RB class to find solid Day 2 footing.
