/c it would be absolutely retarded for him to agree to it.

Oh definitely. He's probably only got a about hundred million dollars in his bank account. He definitely needs more. Selfish frick stick is what he is

Yep, $14 million is a reasonable number to throw away

People are saying he should throw 14 million dollars away so the Saints can be good and we can watch them win a SB. It's ridiculous. Brees doesn't care about anything more in his career than money, just like everybody else. He's already got a ring, records, and fame. Too many people bought the all I care about is winning/what's best for the team act. He cares about those things after he gets exactly his fair market value and not a penny less.

He's going to restructure and it will absolutely help the team. He takes up too much of the salary cap but thats what happens when you get a QB that performs like he has.

Who thinks Drew Brees will be asked to take a pay cut in order to make the roster work?

I thought he already addressed this, stating that he would renegotiate his contract when/if it was necessary.

He can only bank on the guaranteed money, so really what difference does it make to him if he gets his millions over 6 years or over 10 years. His point was to have the organization give him a contract that publicly demonstrated their belief and commitment---i.e. highest paid per year blah blah blah

Well said.

Hard to take our front office's side when they chose to let him play in 2011 without an extension.

That's something you don't see with the Patriots. They lock up their big players early.
