Who thinks Drew Brees will be asked to take a pay cut in order to make the roster work?

More likely an extension for the same rate or an extension with a pay cut with with more guaranteed $$

He will not be asked. Restructure? Maybe. Pay cut? No chance.

He should take a PAY CUT. I say a 2 year $40 million instead of the $54 million over the next 2 seasons. This $14 million he gives back can go a long way in signing a top free agent guard or tackle to protect him. Will he agree to this??? I say HELL NO he won't.

And he's actually making $38.5 million over the next 2 years

Going to have to be an extension

b/c it would be absolutely retarded for him to agree to it.

If he is a true team player, he should follow Brady's lead and take a pay cut to help the team. According to my calculations 26 million in 2015 and 28 million in 2016 equals 54 million over next two seasons not 38 million!!! He ain't worth that!!!!!! So take a pay cut for the team down to $40 million over next two years. But again he won't do it!!!!!

He took an extension...and didn't take a pay cut

Literally what you're saying that Brees shouldn't do

Your calculations include his signing bonus that he already received.

How so? You're being unreasonable if you think he should just give back $14 million.

That's just laughable. You extend him like the Patriots did Brady

Brees will not take a pay cut, elite NFL players don't take pay cuts. Loomis will extend his contract to back load it and free up cap for the next two seasons.

Brady didn't take a pay cut, genius.

There's about 28 other teams in the NFL that would love to be in this predicament, and I bet they have better offensive lines than we do.

cap hit =/= how much you are actually paid this year.

i.e. players that "restructure" these big 10mil bonuses (Byrd, Galette, and Graham) get that 10mil up front and that year, but the cap hit gets distributed through the life of the contract.
