Opening wasn't bad,

the panel so far is pretty weak and lacks any kind of direction, but probably most importantly isn't really funny.

Is it just going to be another show that claims to be "satire", yet solely shits on conservatism? If so, I am not going to watch it. A good comedy take on politics would incorporate both sides, and nothing on that channel does that.

Colbert was the best thing on TV

Colbert was far better than Jon Leibowitz. I really think it would behoove comedy central to have another satire news show that appeals to "the other side". Dennis Miller would be a great person to have for that.

Politics aside, since it on CC I'd just like it to be funny. This show doesn't really seam to know what it wants to be.

Bring back @Midnight to 10:30

Why didn't they just give the show to the British guy who had spots on Colbert's show?

Are you talking about John Oliver from the Daily Show?

He would have taken over, but he has a great show with HBO

I think you have to give the show a couple of weeks or so to see how it works.

maybe judging it harshly because Colbert hit the ground running.

But the two panel segments weren't really funny or interesting and it looks like that's going to be the show's bread and butter. I'll give it a few weeks before judging.

Y'all let us know if it gets better, because last night was boring. I couldn't get through the first episode, and I like Daily Show and Colbert Report.

Indeed. The panel consisted of a senator, a hip artist/activist I've never heard, some chick, and then Bill Burr I guess to somewhat try and make it funny.....and it suuuuucked.

If you've never heard of Talib Kweli, that's because you suck. I mean, dislike the show all you want, but Talib Kweli is maybe the greatest rapper working today. Even Jay-Z name dropped him in his songs. Kweli is a damned legend.

Oh, and the line from Burr about social change only coming from ridiculous acts of violence, not peaceful protest was both astute and funny. But I just liked the overarching joke that there was a panel on TV, and only one white person on there. At one point they asked Burr to speak for all white people. That's a nice inversion of the typical TV pattern.

Really, really hit or miss show.

Some good moments, but it seems like you're mostly sitting there waiting for the funny thing to happen.
