Alex Nash, from Cornwall, was invited to the party just before Christmas.

An invoice for £15.95 was sent by his schoolfriend's mother Julie Lawrence, who said Alex's non-attendance left her out of pocket and his parents had her details to tell her he was not going.

Alex's father Derek said he had been told he would be taken to the small claims court for refusing to pay.

Alex's parents, from Torpoint, had accepted an invitation to the party at a dry ski slope in Plymouth, Devon, just before Christmas.

However, they realised their son was double-booked and due to spend time with his grandparents, which he did.

There is an old battleax in our condo complex who would have you drawn and quartered for holding her $7 refund from community insurance.

She would hire a team of attorneys and possibly hit men if you owed her $25.

Poor birthday kid. Nobody will be going to his parties in the future.

Probably. Its rude to no show a party, but I know from kid parties at our house, mothers today are bad about not saying one way or another then just showing up.

If a no show cost me money, I probably would not say anything, but I can guarantee you one thing. That kid would NEVER be coming to another party at our house, and our kid wouldnt go to theirs.

I wouldnt bother with court on something so small. My time is worth more than that.
