Keep every thing the same as it is but change one thing. If team A scores a TD on the first possession, the team B is given the ball to score a TD. If team B scores a TD, they are forced to go for 2.

This way both teams are given a fair chance. So Green Bay should get the ball for one last drive after the Seattle TD.

Btw, I have a Seattle ticket to win the SB, so this post is not emotionally driven.

Goddamn, are we just going to keep moving the goal posts on overtime rules every year?

I like college OT. Just move them further back to start out. Probably a lot that wouldn't agree with that though.

That's not fair for both teams.

I completely disagree with your proposal.

The defense is part of the team. If your defense isn't good enough to stop a TD on one possession then your offense doesn't deserve a shot no matter how good they are.

My idea doesn't suck. It accomplish 2 things;

1. It gives both teams equal chances.
2. It's a lot shorter than college OT

Maybe if you are a thinker, then it should be pretty obvious.

TV networks like rigidly fixed schedules

otherwise get the game over ASAP

Wasn't the PGA originally match play? (which can go on forever) And the networks made them change it?

Then why do teams take turn getting the ball 1st half and second half? I'm talking about making the rules equitable and you're talking about bad defense doesn't deserve a shot.

It doesn't. It favors the 2nd team if they score a TD because they have to go for the win and strategy is taken out of their hands.

It forces the first team to also go for 2 if they score a TD so either they make it and the 2nd team can just tie or they don't make it and the 2nd team has no pressure as long as they score a TD because the first team would just have 6.

Why force them to go for 2. I think they should get a shot to tie it, but they shouldn't be forced to go for 2

I agree with you 100%. Start with the ball at midfield or the other team's 40. I love the college OT. Each team should get the ball in OT.

1st team has to go for 1. 2nd team has to go for 2. So we are taking a tie out of the equation. It's a win or lose situation. Nfl 2pt conversion rate is around 50%.
