Any of you OT'ers wake up early and run the half marathon or the full?

I had a few friends who ran but I sat this one out. Weather was ideal and course really threw out quite a few PRs from what I have seen so far.

Congrats to all finishers.

i love how we emulate an event in which the original "marathoner", upon completion, dies of exhaustion....

Open marathons are harder to me than Ironman Marathons. When you run an open marathon from the first mile to the last you're on a steady decline physically. When an Ironman, you already start the run in shitty condition so from there its more about maintaining that shitty condition and keeping it together.

Both are hard for sure, but I think an open marathon is harder on my body.

I had a bunch of friends run it... Looked like a great day for a race. Wish I could have been there.

back in the day i could run for ages... now, no shot... hell, the HIIT i do, i have to break up into 2 segments to get about 14 minutes of training....

i just really hate cardio, but that's the only thing that will shred body fat quickly..... resistance training is a must, to establish lean body mass to burn calories, but cardio is such a bane upon my existence...

Who wants to look like a Nigerian distance runner? I'd rather look like a sprinter but that's just me ...

It's amazing how much I get done mentally when I am out running. I've planned a week long vacation before out on a long run.

It's like my therapy.

the only thing i can think of when running is "why the frick am i running right now?" and "why is time going so slow right now?"

but then again, i don't like to frick around at the gym.... i get my shite done and get out... as efficiently as possible... so i can get home to my little girl and wife....

That's how I am. It's the only time without work, family, or frankly any other people. I run alone and without music just to have 45 min to an hour a day to think.
I am convinced it's why I dont need medication.

Lots of friends ran this. Many PRs thanks to near perfect conditions. Congrats to all who ran and accomplished.

I don't run long races around Baton Rouge. I train here so a race just wouldn't motivate me. I like seeing new places and things with much more support along the route. FWIW, I PR'd in Disney World last week. My 3rd time running it. Also perfect conditions.

Right?

I see these roads almost every day. Some people like the familiarity. It depresses me.

I was going to run the quarter marathon yesterday but 2/3rds of the 6 miles is basically the route I run/bike...said no thanks.
