I know many will disagree with me, but theres no need to freak out. We got cold, it happens sometimes.

Interior defense wasnt bad we just started missing and they made some.

We'll still make the NCAA tournament.

Call me a hoops sunshine pumper I guess.

We took low percentage shots early in the shot clock, makes it easier to go dry.

I think it was more just being the "trap" game after a great performance against Ole Miss. They looked mentally tired as they were settling for jump shots in the 2nd half instead of going inside. Most coaches know that the worst thing to happen is for a player who isn't always good at hitting 3's t hit his first 3 point attempt. I think that happened with half our players today.

Also, apparently 11 AM games don't agree with this team.

I think they will bounce back as Gray continues to learn his new role and the rest of the team develops. Hopefully CJJ doesn't abandon the plan and just start playing M&M 40 minutes again. The substitutions worked well to get us the lead.

While true, there is a lack of quality depth. They would be 4-0 in SEC with even a remotely higher hoops IQ, fundamentals, unified idealogy, and more cohesion as a team unit.

The 2009 team was also about only 7 deep in quality, actually even shorter than 2014's squad, granted with the SEC-POY Thornton, and an extremely underrated multi-skilled yeoman in Tas. But, I would say they were much higher in hoops IQ and savvy, and weren't aloof like this 2014 team can oft be.

I just don't see us with the talent and depth to be a top 25 team. As long as we stay in the top 64 we'll be alright which I think we can do if they can start clicking.

Going dry at the end of the game is NOT why we lost. Having a decent lead the entire second half (until the final seconds) yet continuously throwing up three point brick shots (1-13 or 1-14) makes absolutely NO sense. JJ should've called a timeout...chewed some arse...and instilled a little discipline (by taking a seat) for anyone who can't understand a team concept.

LSU has two really good players and four decent guys that have huge swings in performance from game to game.
Darcy seems to be improving but not sure he has a high ceiling. I've included Patterson with TQ, JG, and KH. Maybe all these minutes are wearing them out at the end. Jones likes to press but cannot do it playing 7 guys.

We had an 8 point lead against Missouri, 8 point lead against Georgia, 11 point lead against ole miss and a 13 point lead against A&M. We are 2-2 in those games.

to play devil's advocate, those aren't exactly big leads

That's one thing about the Brady era I'll never forget: the huge blown leads....up 18 against Ohio State...15 WVU...22 against Villanova

Coleman and Morgan with Hickey bird-dogging made that press work. They were instinctively good at it. Remember the Seton Hall game where he first pressed they had never even practiced it, but those kids all know how to press from AAU ball.

The kids we have on the team now just aren't as good at pressing as those games. I think that's the reason we aren't pressing as much this year more than depth.

Johnny never pressed a lot, but he pressed more his first two years with similar depth because he had kids who could execute it better.

There are other issues more pressing for me though. No pun intended.

Nah, i was pretty pissed leaving the PMAC. We had every reason to be. I'm just going to give Jones another game or two to convince this team to quit taking stupid shots

I find it hilarious the lengths you people go to defend jones and how underwhelming this program has been under him, yet the knee jerk reaction over a meaningless bowl game gets blown way out of proportion.

I didn't exactly melt over the bowl game. Still, comparing LSU football and basketball isn't even fair,

It just seems that folks are looking for every and any excuse to accept this crap from the basketball program. This is not football, it shouldn't take long to rebuild....you have 13 guys not 85. Even if next year is good, I just don't see any long term success under jones.

Well my thread earlier wasn't intended to be a Jones' apologist. I left the PMAC pissed like everyone else.

If Jones and Musselman can't convince these guys to quit taking low percentage shots, then it won't matter what we think because the staff will be gone in two seasons.

But to say the talent level between the two programs is even relative to the sport doesn't make sense. Otherwise LSU would at least have someone like Victor to come off the bench. Right now we have a 6'4" power forward coming off the bench for frick's sake

By the way, tune into the Ole Miss-Arkansas game. Anderson is in year 4 with more talent, yet Arkansas is struggling. hence it takes time
