I see a ton of movies and could write a book on this subject.

The guy who was not only texting, but had the sound up on his phone so he could hear the comical "bloop" sound whenever he received a text.

The guy who made a phone call during the movie.

The woman who gave me the "talk to the hand" when I told her that her screaming two year old was ruining the movie for everyone.

The family that realized that they were in a foreign language film with subtitles, and the daughter asked loudly, "Should I read it all for Grandma?" Luckily, her dad replied, "Nah, she's gonna' be asleep in a minute anyway."

And the awesome guy who loudly named every military vehicle and weapon as they appeared on the screen in Fury.

IMO, if you use your phone in a movie theater, it automatically makes you an inconsiderate prick. Whats the point of going to the movie if you cant put your damn phone down. Do everyone a favor and stay the frick home.

I brought my 10 year old son to see AS tonight because I want him to know what a true bad arse American hero looks like.

And this is why I don't go to a movie theater.

I tell them to stop it when they do it after a couple of times. Nicely of course.

This is why I hope everyone starts going to Alamo Draft House and forcing the other movie theaters to make these changes. The scum of society can have the the theaters that don't change.

I hate idiots who are on their phones during a movie. I have no problem telling them to turn it off if they are near me. Usually they are polite and turn it off. A couple times they got upset and said it was important...then others jumped them by telling them to go into the hallway.

In all honesty, I should be able to punch them in the throat and break their fingers. If one has no voice and no fingers, one will not use one's cell phone.

The message on the screen at the beginning of the movie should be enough, though...

question: do any of you ever SAY anything to people who are talking or texting?

outside of a few scenarios (aggressive trashy males), if you tell somebody quickly and directly to stop, they almost always will

My mom would've still whipped my arse in front of everyone if I did that. Used the F word that is.

I never go on a Friday or Saturday night. You couldn't pay me to do that. I go during the week or during the day on the weekend. That means I am rarely in a full theater. It also seems to cut out the kids going for a social event rather than to see a movie. As a result, I never have trouble with people on their cell.

Occasionally I have problems with someone talking. Rarely though - probably once a year at best. I have had to tell people to be quiet a couple of times.

One time the movie had just started and there were still some conversations going on in a less than half full theater. My brother can be a scary dude. He just yelled out, "Everyone shut the frick up!" You could have heard a pin drop outside of the movie the rest of the movie.

I think that I've been to my last midnight premiere. Those are more social events than screenings at this point. The last couple that I went to involved me screaming at a group of kids and scaring them shitless before the movie even started. Another had me calling the manager on my phone to tell him that a fraternity was doing a stomp in the aisles.

I'm amazed that my wife and I are usually the only people who will say something to anyone. Usually people shut up. One guy wanted to show off for his date and mouthed off for a while... "They haven't started talking in the movie... we weren't talking while they were talking..."

I have several times asked nicely, but directly, for them to not use their phone. Haven't had any resistance, but if I did my next step would be to find an usher to escort them out of the theater. I have seen that happen before.

I cannot disagree more.

Just because you paid the same as I and the others in the theater did does not give you the right to diminish the pleasure of the activity that we paid for.

It helps that I go to the theaters in Flowood, Pearl, and Madison where they know if called, the cops won't play.

Dont use your cell phone. I'll tell anybody that, the movie theater itself asks you not to. Its not that hard of a thing to do. If you are on your cell phone more than than just checking it or sending a short text once or twice then you suck at life.

About a year ago a high school kid sitting right in front of me was on his phone every 5 minutes so I so I just starting rocking his chair until he turned around so I could tell him what a douche he was. He stopped.

I normally dont care all that much but that kid struck a nerve.

I saw plenty of rated R violent movies at the theater when I was a kid.
Sorry about your parents.

People who use their cell phones frequently in a crowded theater are pure trash.

Actually, depending on the theater you attend you don't. Most theaters specifically request before the movie for people to not use their cell phones. Only a handful have the nuts to enforce it regularly.
