What's up with people and their cell phones in movie theaters, just watched American Sniper and several people were texting throughout the movie.

Also one couple had their young daughter with them, couldn't have been older than 10. Who brings their kid see a movie like that.

I saw plenty of rated R violent movies at the theater when I was a kid.

I paid just as much for my ticket as you did. I have every right to update my Facebook page and Twitter feed during the movie as I see fit.

I don't go see many movies in theaters for this exact reason.

Part of seeing a movie is willing suspension of disbelief, it's hard to keep that when a blue screen is a row or two in front of you. Or someone has that lame light notification in the same row as you.

It's such a better experience to watch a movie in the comfort of your own home. Usually cheeper, no people bothering you with cell phones or leaving in the middle of the movie. Also you choose when to see it. Only if it's something I can't wait to see I won't go see it theaters.

It's the redneck republican contingent a film by Eastwood always brings to theaters. I realize this doesn't make much sense. Just go with it.

If you downvoted this, you're a dirty redneck republican.

When I went to see Gone Girl this guy that was probably 70 got in this 16 year old girl's arse who was sitting in front of him for texting during the movie.

I was like hell yeah Grandpa, you tell em how it is.

It's the average american. Don't tell me to not use my cell phone.

Plus people in this culture are incredibly connected to their cell phones. There are people who are so addicted to technology that if they are awake and away from their cell phones for even 30 minuets they get antsy.

Im guilty about using my phone a lot but not as bad as others.

There are some people who can't sit through a movie without using their cell phones. It's kinda disappointing.

they think if they don't respond to their BF or GF immediately when they get their text that somehow their relationship is at risk.

I noticed this with my grandpa when we went to see Unbroken. He got a phone call because he forgot to put it on silent.

Also, my grandma kept saying, "oh, that's horrible" every time they showed the prison camp.

I just figured, hell, they are both almost 90. They've earned it.

I rarely go to the theater because it just got old dealing with the same issues. I remember one in Baton Rouge guy kept answering his phone and talking on it. Unless I really feel like it will be better on the big screen, I wait until it is on video.

I don't get it either. I go to the movies sometimes just to have a good reason not to answer my phone for two hours.

Had a couple bring a baby to the latest showing of Zombieland a few years ago. I can't go to a big name theater without having at least one chatty ahole or someone sitting on their phone in sight. I'm with you 100% here. It's a big part of why I don't go to the theaters as much.

I just got out of American Sniper and a couple brought (what appeared to be) their newborn to the movie... Thankfully my fellow movie goers were not afraid to tell them to leave when the baby started crying.
