Personally, Gladiator is in my top ten movies. I never get tired of watching it. Something about it coming full circle and Maximus is just a badass.

Low, always felt it was a good movie and at the same time overrated.

Good movie but nowhere near a top ten ranking for me. Enjoyed it the first time I watched. Perhaps a bit less the second time around.

One of those movies I will always recall enjoying but don't have a need for additional viewings.

Maximus only commanded one legion. He mentions he has 5000 men in his command, which is just a garrison force . That's not really impressive at all. When I saw it when I was little, I thought he was supposed to come across as some big time general. Why does aurelius give a shite what some border force commander thinks.

It's well made but it never really resonated with me that much. I'd much rather watch Braveheart.

random trivia: both Braveheart and Gladiator have that actor with the weird scars cutting across his cheeks

Same. It's a really good, probably even great action movie, but I was never actually blown away by its greatness like some people seem to be. It's just a really fun popcorn flick to me.

Great movie. In the top 20. So many great lines.

Russell Crowe, imo, took a wrong turn in his career. Could've been a really great action star, but went for Oscar bait movies for awhile after this.

Not the Stallone style star, but more so a Denzel or lead in Michael Mann style action movie.

Side-note, would have made a great Wolverine.

It was a game changer when it came out in showing Hollywood people would watch these historical movies again. Made Rome and Spartacus possible.

One of my favorite action movies. Good story and good action without it going over the top. I'm a big Russell Crowe fan as well so it helps.
