“It’s been reported, and it’s true, that we’ve had some conversations about [reviving] X-Files,” ideally with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, Fox Television Group co-chairman Gary Newman said at the Television Critics Association. “But I have nothing that we can announce at this time.”

This is garbage. Leave the series alone. Hollywood apparently can't invent anything new anymore.

If you need a Gillian Anderson fix - I highly recommend checking out The Fall (BBC). It's a very methodically paced character study disguised as a crime drama (shades of The Killing and Criminal Minds... in Northern Ireland).

Anderson stars as Superintendent Stella Gibson, a senior police officer investigating a string of murders in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Equal screen time is given to the serial killer she is pursuing.

Two full seasons have aired (that means 11 episodes a little over an hour in length). Will return for a 3rd season late October/early November 2015.

Her character is a trip...and she's definitely aging gracefully.

I'm pretty sure it was... maybe still is? I was streaming it from BBC iPlayer as the season was airing.

That's hilarious! This was hatched on Nerdist podcast a week or so ago. Topic comes up at the 48:00 mark. Gillian Anderson sounded genuinely interested and actually sounds stunned that there would be any interest in it. It's pretty funny.

Worth a listen...

It would probably not be nearly as good as the first six seasons of the original, but I'd watch it unless it was awful.

I wish they had done a better job w/ the movies, especially the second one. Would have been cool if they just did a series of standalone MOTW movies.

I have a hard time figuring out where they would go after season 6 considering how it ended. I would assume maybe exploring where they came from and a secret back channel plan to find a way to identify / defeat them?

Regardless of the plan...yes please.

The truth is out there.

David Duchovny says he's ready to slip back into character as FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder for a reprisal of The X-Files in a limited run.

Duchovny tells USA TODAY he's "more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with (co-star) Gillian (Anderson) and (series creator) Chris (Carter)."

Fox officials just confirmed to TV critics in California that the network wants to reboot the cult supernatural series.

Fox Television Group Chairmen-CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman said they were in early talks with Carter.

On Tuesday, Duchovny, 54, said, "I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now. We'll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season," he said with a laugh.
