--Who learned everything he knows from Dale Brown. Who also could recruit but couldn't coach. Get ready for years of great players with average seasons, and once and a while a pretty good season.

It should be NCAA or bust next year. If he doesn't make the tourney next season there is no reason he should coach here.

They'll make the tourney next year.

You counts. Dale brown went to the tournament 11 years in a row and he can't coach?

Two words: Ron Abernathy.

I would have to disagree, the team took so many bad shots in the second half. Looked like a bunch of guys who were playing pick up ball. And he seemed completely fine with it
So, what exactly are you disagreeing with? Yes, the players took bad shots and made sloppy turnovers, but he watches this happen like he has no more control over it than I have watching my TV.

Yea, relax we just gave this guy a 400k raise. I'd say it's well earned.

All you have to do is watch LSU during time outs. LSU breaks the TO and comes on to the court with 15-30 seconds left in the TO. EVERY opposing team coaches to and through the end of the TO. The official has to break up the huddle. This litterally happens in EVERY TO.

Exactly. I'm no expert, by any stretch, but he appears to not call timeouts because he has nothing to say when he does.

Definitely some common traits - recruits but blows it with poor coaching at times

In the first 4 games of SEC play LSU leads the league in 3 point attempts per game. This by a team who has 1 (maybe 2) shooters and who's two best players are post players. That is indicative of just how poor a coach Jones is.

You must not have watched the Dale Brown years. He was a good recruiter and a master motivator, but a very poor x and o coach. That's pretty much universally known.
Here we go with the pre-requisite "Pumper" excuse and defense of poor coaching and the required "Realist" response.

JJ is DB 2.0. Get the athletes in here and let them coach themselves during games. We're seeing a lot of "Street Ball" out there. JJ even stands around on the sidelines with his hands on his hips and jacket pulled back just like Brown. Next season is going to be just like the Brown years with all that great talent and never ever reaching FULL potential.

We don't think any of the "Sanders" (Head in the Sand) actually go to games. They just sit at their Computer all day and night and wait to jump on any post that is not 100% Sugar Coated.

BTW, the 11am start sucked, just like 11am games suck in football. If the game is at night, the crowd will be larger and the team will feed off the emotional energy in the arena and play better. LSU fans don't like attending athletic events at 11am.

We do know that Jones lost a lot of LSU fans today. Everybody has enough evidence now and knows exactly what we have in JJ if there was any doubt before this game. It will be an up and down roller coaster ride for the duration.......

They are both positive guys, JJ is recruiting similar guys and they have some similarities, but they are not even close to similar on the bench. Brown was psyched up and got his players psyched up. He also lit into players when they didn't give effort or were playing stupid.

As for some of the other people commenting, Brown sometimes relied on motivation more than Xs and Os, but he knew decent Xs and Os too because in his first year when LSU was a joke and were picked to finish dead last in the SEC, LSU had a winning record and he was named SEC Coach of the Year. He beat the team that finished as the NCAA runner up at home. It was Dale's first home game and they won by double digits. That was before he could get the recruiting machine going.

If he doesn't make the Tourney with the team he'll have next year, he might be the worst coach in the history of CBB.

The guy doesn't even look his players in the eye after they screw up.
