I've seen it discussed many times on here but i want to ask...whats the best way to season a brand spankin new cast iron pot? In the Oven? Or on a Burner? I can do either. We will be cooking chili in it this weekend. Back to back chili cook offs!

Yep. Many methods but I think they all accomplish the same thing

Go buy 2 gallons of oil and 2-10lb bags of leg quarters. Heat up the oil to 350, season the chicken (unbreaded) and fry it. That will season it just fine.

The website says all bayou classic cook ware is pre seasoned EXCEPT jambalaya pots like the one we just bought.

i oiled mine and turned it upside down on top of my gas grill. heated it up, cooled it down. repeat.

We'll just fry up some chicken necks or something in it tonight. Seems pretty hard to mess up.
