Question regarding LSU Bama game in Tuscaloosa next year

So my Dad, myself, and maybe a couple other people are wanting to go to the game next year in Tuscaloosa. Probably going to go ahead and reserve a hotel room in the next couple days.
My question for the rant is what are some good/convenient Hotels to stay at. If most are already booked (which I'm sure they are) are there some nearby towns we can stay at or is our best bet to look in the Birgmingham/Hoover area?
Ive never been to a game Tuscaloosa so any help would be appreciated

Stay in Meridian. Much better ride back home and not too far from Tuscaloosa.

Stay in Birmingham. Tuscaloosa doesn't have much to offer.

I've stayed in Bessemer which is about 45 minutes from Tuscaloosa. Not a bad place, at least it wasn't 8-10 years ago.

Much longer trip back home. I'd rather stay more west and have a much shorter trip back home.

They just built a new embassy suites on university Blvd downtown. Near a bunch of bars and restaurants. It's huge, and isn't even open yet, so it'll be mostly free from Gump koodies. I'd check that out asap.

All I know is dont stay in Merridian Mississippi (an hour from Gumpistan). We stayed there several years ago as a group and someone broke into all our hotel rooms and stole our stuff. The town is trash anyway.

Stay in Columbus, MS or Meridian as stated if you can't stay closer.

I just booked three rooms at the luxurious Motel 6 on McFarland.
Pretty much the only place under $250/night in T-town on game weekend.
It's a place to lay your head.

I saw that also, thinking about going this route

Dad and I went in 2007. IDK where we stayed but it was near the MS/AL line.
As much as I hate Alabama, that was the best road trip we have been on for a game. Fans were surprisingly respectful. No doubt they were entitled "new money" types but they knew their shite and, for the most part, were humble in defeat.
There were a few bad apples but you get that anywhere you go. I don't hold it against them. I've seen LSU fans pull the same shite.
That being said, they tailgate well but it isn't an LSU atmosphere. IDGAF what anyone says, nobody tops LSU in tailgating. We're tops in hospitality, food, and atmosphere. I feel like they're what LSU fans would be if they had shitty food and had a huge sense of self-importance.

Don't drink and drive in meridian. They're one of the worst cities in America about DWIs.
Don't get shot in meridian. They like to do that also.

Hoover isn't bad.
It isn't. Stayed there after 2007 SECCG. The Alabama "gameday experience" beats LSU in one aspect...ingress/egress. The stadium was packed and we parked within a 5 minute walk. Leaving was a pleasant surprise. We went from vehicle to I20 in 15 minutes or so.

It's a different setting. So many bars and frat houses that close to the stadium is going to cut down on the tailgating crews.
Hotel wise, you should be able to find somewhere in Tuscaloosa or northport this early. Like someone already said, it a place to lay your head. Hell I stayed in a motel 6 in Denham Springs that smelled like middle earth in 2012. Got drunk. Didn't care.

Staying West of Tuscaloosa:
There is very little...
East of Tuscaloosa:
35 miles East is Bessemer (would never stay, rough town!!). 10 miles East of Besemer is Hoover (off I-459). I LIVE 2 MIN OFF INTERSTATE!! There are 4-5 nice hotels (Embassy, Hyatt, Marriott, Winfrey) on John Hawkins Parkway!! Also, a Super Target and Walmart SC.. This is the place to stay if you want nice, clean, safe area with some entertainment!! I have lived here for 20 yrs!! Outside of Hoover and Highway 280, DO NOT STAY IN BHAM!!! Just ask any Florida fan that was here for the bowl!! Hahaha!!

WE always stayed in Meridian, Ms. Several hotels and restaurants right on the interstate. A short ride to bama.

I would stay in Columbus, MS. One hour away from Tusclaoosa straight across 82. Lots of good food options there and always live music on Fridays.
