I've read many articles on this place. Chef O'Connell meets with his service staff every day before dinner service. There are some interesting articles on that and I've seen these meetings when I've been there.
The rating system is interesting, too, but every time I've been, we all started at a 9 because were so excited to be there and we finished at 10. We toured the kitchen after our meal and were shown our ratings on a chalk board.
Dining at The Inn has been my most favorite overall dining experience and I hope I get the opportunity to go again in this lifetime. My parents go up every few years. They were there when Hurricane Sandy was near that area and the place lost power, but the restaurant didn't miss a bit, though the power went out toward the end of the last dinner service, thankfully. Staying at the Inn itself is just as enjoyable.
His approach is really simple, though it takes work to train folks or "untrain" them as the case may be.
Fabulous place.

This is another good one. O'Connell takes service very very seriously. You can tell when you're there. It's sort of magical. If I get to go again, I might try to fake being not so happy just to see what happens because it's fascinating. The extras they brought and things they did just to bump us one number was damn impressive. The service was perfection.
