CLM closes the deal on a new DC & Coach "O".
Next, he closes the deal on 2015's recruiting class!

No, why would coach O make our DC hire any better?

Don't know about Steele. I'm happy about O. Screw that I f@in love the O hire. With that said. We still need someone or anyone that knows what a competent QB looks like.

Still don't think Steele is a good DC hire but with Coach O onboard think it certainly changes the picture of what Miles is trying to do. With great talent, Steele could be effective IMO. It doesn't change the DC hire but certainly gives me hope that this will be an extremely talented team a few years down the road.

Both coaches will be on the field and not in the booth
Both coaches are excellent recruiters
Both coaches know their trade
Who were you expecting, Jack Del Rio??
Posted on 1/14/15 at 11:08 am to jeff70121
I was expecting a DC who has actually been successful as a DC.

We have great recruiters and coaches that are as good or better coaches at their respective positions than the previous guys were. So of course I'm happy.

You're over thinking this thing and putting way too much emphasis on a few stats.
Let it play out

I will be if he can make game time adjustments instead of staying with someone who "does not have it"

What possibly makes you think that Steele is a better DC than Chavis?

Happier because...
1. Coach O was a must get for me in any capacity.
2. Frank Wilson's apparent joy over having both Steele and O on the squad.
3. Giving Brick the option to stay aboard in some capacity.
Now, if we could get a big time recruit to commit this week and maybe convince an early departure to stay that would really push things over the top for me.

I am putting emphasis on the results he has had as a DC and head coach. What else would I judge him on?

He may end up being great. I still don't think that makes him qualified for the job, and I still don't like the risk associated with the hire. This is not an upgrade over Chavis.
And I think coach O is a home run hire.

That's a reasonable opinion. Your other opinions on Steele (that he's dumb/clueless/etc.) are ridiculously overboard.

I said positions, talking about LBs.
Steele isn't as good of a DC as Chavis, but if he is more aggressive and doesn't lose us games I will be happy with it.
