I swear.....Johnny Jones.....Les Miles.....hell, many were complaining when Saban was hired. Have a little faith in the powers that be...and let the dude have a shot before pronouncing him a dud. Friggin ridiculous.

This board was around when Saban was hired?

Lulz
You let what people say on a message board make you upset.
Pathetic.

You can try to spin this all you want. But LSU fumbled the ball on this hire. I can't wait for his salary to be released. Because then we can finally go after the one person who has screwed LSU time and time again. AD Joe Alleva.

There were alot (or at least some including myself) that were happy when Johnny Jones was hired.
When Eric Musselman was hired this offseason, everyone siad it was the best hire since Saban.

1) This board did not exist when Saban was hired
2) Jonny Jones? Link?
3) How many coaches have we hired with a track record of failure on their resume and they are going from HC -> DC -> Position Coach and not the other way around?

Yeah guys, this is the guy Les turned down all those great candidates for!

So now this is the new spin, and it is bullshite.
First, this board was not in existence when Saban was hired.
Second, most fan sentiment when Saban was hired was guarded optimism. He already had the reputation as an up-and-coming disciplinarian with a definite system. He was basically an unknown quantity with qualities hinting at greatness. He DEFINITELY did not have the decades-long track record of failure that Steele has.
After Saban's first press conference here, most everyone LOVED the hire.

Are you kidding me? Chavis was a great hire. He had the numbers to back up his hiring. Steele???
Steele’s longest-serving tenure as a coordinator came at Clemson. His three Clemson teams ranked 12th in 2009, 19th in 2010 and 71st in 2011 in total defense. These number blow in a weak ACC.
They might as well have promoted Haley than hire this guy.

Maybe I should have said "LSU fans bitch". Not sure board was around in 2000. I do however remember people bitching about the hire at the time. I bitched when Johnny Jones was hired. I was wrong.

On paper, we either
A) went cheap
or
B) overpaid for a position coach
That being said, I think we should all R-E-L-A-X and give Steele a chance. It's ridiculous to call it a failure before he coaches a single game.

I've been pretty happy with some of the recent hires like Johnny Jones and Paul Mainieri.
This one.... not so much.

Watch how the board reacts to Coach O being hired. He'll break that streak.
Posted on 1/14/15 at 8:22 am to rumproast
This was probably the worst time to post this with seemingly everyone being excited about Orgeron

Bad timing to make your argument. People are actually stoked about Coach O getting hired.
But please, go back to attacking your own fanbase - drama queen.

And you quit acting like its a tragedy before the guy is even in B.R. If he gets here and tanks, I'll be bitching with you. Let him have a shot.

Why is it that so many people think that just because an individual is in a position of influence or power then that equates to the boss/coach/President/CEO being near-infallible?
Miles and Aleva are public figures who are fit to be criticized in a manner no different from a politician passing a poor piece of legislation objected by their constituents.
Forgive the hyperbole, but am I supposed to just be grateful that any hire was made and accept the decision as though I am a lobotomized member of the proletariat who simply praises whatever the leader does?

Alan Dunn and Ed Orgeron say you are wrong.
