Is this the Riverboat Gambler Les that made this hire?

I've admitted before I don't know squat about defensive coordinators so I can't tell if this is a good hire, a terrible hire, a great hire or what.

But judging by the little I've read and heard seems like Steele has had some poor stats here and there in his resume'.

So, is this Les taking a shot at something he sees in Steele that, if it clicks will make him elite but at the risk of a big downside?

I for one kind of like the old reckless gambling Les. But of course if the gamble fails it can be very bad.

If not this, why do you think he made this hire? (I'm asking what you think his motivations were in this particular move).

He got the best he could with the budget he was given. My opinion.
