bullshite.

The general sentiment when Saban was hired was guarded optimism and most were intrigued by the hire.

LSU fans were impressed with the job he did at Michigan State while in the shadow of Ann Arbor, and people could see from the beginning he was the disciplinarian the program needed after Dinardo.

After his first press conference, many loved the hire.

bullshite. Even I knew who Saban was and was excited. And I know shite about football. All you had to do was see what he did at Michigan State in a few years to know he was solid.

But I tell you what ... had Saban had the same track record as Steele ...

1) Going 1-31 or something in conference play at Baylor.

2) Crying on the sidelines.

3) Looked at with consternation for having fainting spells on gameday.

4) His most famous achievement as a DC giving up 70 points in a major bowl game ...

and 5) having been fired as a DC, then demoted to where your former subordinate is now your superior ...

then yes, the LSU fans would have hated the Nick Saban hire like they hate the Kevin Steele hire.

And they would have had great reasons for doing so.

All I knew about Saban was the head coach we had just fired beat him in the Indy Bowl a few years earlier.

im sorry I say bull shite. I remember hearing Tim Brando talk about the Saban and hire and although a kind of unknown commodity most of the people were pretty excited about the hire.

We were not the same program on any tangible level at that point.. And in no way was there near the gloom as with this hire.. This was the hire of a broken, faltering program unwilling to step out of its comfort zone..
