day after Chavis left he was huffing and puffing talking about how he'd make sure he got the buyout from them, haven't heard a peep about it since then

He has no incentive to go after it. If anything, it's most likely more damaging for LSU to pursue something like that than anything. It would give coaches a bad perception on LSU and think twice coming here. Alleva needs to take it in the arse like he always does and stop pouting over his failure. He knew what was coming and LSU should've been in good position to fill that DC spot as soon as Chavis left.
If this DC search didn't start long before Chavis was out then Alleva is a bigger moron than I thought. Judging by the way he handle the extensions, I'm guessing he didn't.

funny I was just thinking that 
The board needs to replace alleva before the next major hire at LSU. Chavis knew he was bolting all along, alleva buys his lies and locks up the defensive staff without locking up the dc. I bet we never get even 200k of the 400k owed to us.

But didn't the contract verbiage about his buyout end Dec 31 2014?

if through 2015, the LSU gets paid
But it was my understanding Alleva was trying to get it on a technically of Chavis negotiating and agreeing in principal to A$M before Dec 31st thus breaking his contract with LSU.
